New disclaimer!

I got a job in the video games industry! I'm still not in design, though, and don't have any interactions with designers as a part of my job, so my thoughts are still my own.

So let's modify the old disclaimer:

I work for a game company, but not as a game designer in any capacity, and I don't interact with designers as a part of my job. I do have friends and contacts in the industry, but no close friends who are game designers, (yet). I am not privy to any unreleased information about any of the games I blog about. My thoughts on this blog are my own, composed from my own subjective experience combined with any publicly announced game design tidbits (for example, from This Week at Bungie articles). If my employment situation changes such that this is no longer true (and I hope it does!), I will make a very excited blog post about it, and from that point forward, I will have a different disclaimer apply.

Wishful TWAB is my series of posts where I type a bunch about things I would change for real TWABs and occasionally pitch a fake TWAB that I wish would happen. Before I launch into what I would change about today's TWAB, I do want to put up a disclaimer for this and any future Wishful TWABs that are about real TWABs with Sandbox stuff: Chris Proctor was one of the guys I interviewed with when I made it to the final round interviews at Bungie. He seemed like a cool guy that I would genuinely like to work with. But that particular interview with him and Kevin Yanes was absolutely the interview of the set that I felt worst about for a number of reasons. And they didn't hire me. So... I mean, that experience probably has influenced my view of sandbox stuff. Keep that in mind as you read this edition of Wishful TWAB.

Fixing Stuff I've Made: NOKBAK, Grapple

I was going to make a big ol' Part 2 post, and I have a partial draft for it, but it was daunting and messy to try and organize my thoughts, so I'm going to be releasing these in smaller, more frequent, bite-sized parts that each discuss a smaller chunk of the game. Quick Update: I'm designing a game! Not professionally

Hello! I've been absent for almost two months because I finally got some friends on-board to make a game together and have been able to get lots of time in designing for that game, which meant that I spent my time doing that instead of coming up with things to post here. Will share it when we have a playable prototype or something else visual to share. Right now it's just a bunch of design documents and a very rough playable base. Not that anyone reads this blog for fun. Nor is the blog search-engine-findable. But I'm making this post as though it is!
